Disciples Seminary Foundation is seeking to hire a part-time Development and Communications Manager. This position will report directly to the Executive Director and oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of DSF’s development and communications plans. This includes working with the Development and Church Relations committee of the DSF board along with other DSF staff. 

The Development and Communications Manager will create, update, and execute an annual plan for a communications, development, and fundraising program to provide for short- and long-term needs of DSF. Development will involve working with the Executive Director and Development and Church Relations committee to promote regular fundraising activities, acknowledge gifts to the annual fund, and

endowments. Communications will include email, social media, and website updates, as well as the creation of brochures, press releases, and public statements as appropriate.

Job Description and Application Instructions

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop annual strategic development and communications plan and delegate appropriate activities to Executive Director and DSF Board as needed

  2. Promote DSF’s brand to build and strengthen relationships with students, graduates, and donors

  3. Work with the Executive Director to develop the budget for communications and development

  4. Learn, understand, and use Raiser’s Edge to track donations and giving patterns

  5. Develop a timeline for donor stewardship to ensure consistent and monthly outreach

  6. Thank donors on a regular basis and keep track of thank you notes in appropriate software (i.e., Excel, Google Docs, etc.)

  7. Work with Development and Church Relations committee to carry out development activities

  8. Manage regular email, newsletter communications, including content creation or coordination with staff, regions, and partners schools for content

  9. Update website content and marketing and development materials  

Requirements and Qualifications: 

  1. Undergraduate degree or 3 – 5 years marketing or fundraising and communication experience

  2. Some knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or other development platform

  3. Computer, internet, and social media skills

  4. Outstanding oral and written skills

  5. Excellent organizational and time management skills

  6. Ability to work independently and in partnership with DSF staff
